Are we the only researchers in Redditch? or do you just live somewhere else, and thought it would be a good idea to put Redditch on the map?

I don't actually come from Redditch, I just live and work here now. I live in Hunt End and work in North Moon's Moat and travel from A to B in the morning 9:30ish, back to A for lunch, back to B again for the afternoon and finally back to A again for the night in my shiny metallic red Mitsubushi Galant Reg S362 SUY, (if you ever see me, just flash or honk). I come from Sutton Coldfield originally, Mere Green to be exact), which is almost as bad as Redditch, but with less dual carriageways.

Keep on researching, and Don't Panic...

No. You are not the only researchers from Redditch.

Hi, my name is Richard, and this is my Towel.

I live in Church Hill, Chelmarsh Close to be exact. (Off Thornbury Lane).

I drive a white Nova saloon. Reg: G985 RUE . It has green side lights. Please try not to crash in to me if you see me. Just remember.. Don't Panic.

Anyway.. My Improbability drive is due for a service so i must be off

Bye bye smiley - fish

The Mystery of the Disappearing Conversation

The last time I looked at this site there was a conversation on how to get to Redditch. I know 'cos I posted directions. This conversation definitely didn't appear on the list of conversations. Now the conversation I posted to has vanished and this one has appeared! Does any one know what the heck is going on?

A propos of where people live, I live in Headless Cross (The Meadway, if you care). My car is bright metallic blue, reg: K696XOX. Don't hit it, I'll want to sell it some day, and it has already got a nasty set of scratches (my fault) on the near-side rear wing.

OOPS! My mistake! This is the page on Redditch that dangles off my 'home page'. The other 'Redditch' page is an accepted article. Mystery solved!

And then there were 4.
I work in Alcester, but live in Matchborough.
Car is an only slightly battered D-reg Fiesta, with under 70,000 miles on the clock.

As for the nature of our fair town, I kinda like the fact that it is easy to drive through but hard to drive around, and the benefits of a circular bus route that has absolutely no traffic to contend with 90% of the way must not be underestimated. To those who are foreign to this little segment of modern middle-england, the 57/58 bus goes around all the housing estates using a road which is kept from general use by the simple ruse of blocking the central part of each estate with no-entry signs (except for buses).

Redditch also has 200 acres of park running right through it, which is pretty impressive for an 800 acre town.

I am still severely pissed off by the lack of decently lit and maintained footpaths, never mind the total lack of cycle routes. All the footpaths I have seen become partially obstructed at some point by the bushes planted alongside them. Some are cut off from the road and the nearby houses by these bushes. Put this together with the poor level of street lighting along these paths and you get a set-up that leaves me feeling very wary and unsafe. Plus the fact that I cannot easily walk from Headless Cross to Moons Moat (4 - 5 miles by car), and cycling there requires use of dual carriageway - not something I would normally want to do!

I still live in Redditch, and will do for the foreseeable future, 'cos with all its faults, it's a nice place to live. I have yet to find another Tesco (the supermarket we use most) that can match the one at Oakenshaw.
