Hello Lisa,
the first thing you should do is click on preferences. Delete the researcher number and give yourself a username.
Then update at the bottom of the page and then go back to your space.
Next, click on edit and write an introduction about yourself. Untill you do that no one can leave you a message on your page.
When you have done that you will be visited by an ACE who wil give you a welcome. ACES are very friendly people who are very helpful to newcomers.
I myself am not one, but if there's anything you'd like to know just ask and I'll help if I can.
