This week's title is Signs of the Times. Clockwise from upper left: Two yellow signs: one points to the Gospel Hall, while the one behind it warns Danger of Death. Below that a photo of RMS Titanic. Continuing right: the Great Yarmouth Ferris wheel, a small stone sculpture of a miner at work, a blue plaque for Elizabeth Fry, a prominent Quaker reformer, in Norwich, below, a plaque on a brick schoolhouse that says Disce aut Descede, which is Latin for 'learn or leave', below that, a famous Italian painting showing Cicero delivering one of the Cataline orations in the Senate, and Cataline looking ticked off, continuing let: a bluejay perched on a branch, an effigy of a red-haired man sitting on a stool outside a barber shop museum, yellow plums in bloom, and finally a squirrel being cute at the bottom of a bird feeder pole.

Signs: they are everywhere these days. Some say, spring is coming. Others may have more ominous messages warning of danger on the road ahead. The ones Paige found on his trip to Norfolk mostly tell us about the people who used to live there. There's lots to wonder over on this virtual trip.

Nature's making its annual comeback in the northern temperate zone, so take a gander at the flowers (beautiful!) and birds – parts of birds, out-of-focus, Paige is not an ornithologist, but he did get a nice squirrel photo for us.

We have humour, complete with bad puns and un-asked-for Bible information. I'm coming up on the end of that series on Jehu. Which nobody has said a word about. I'm not sure whether y'all are okay with my pointing out that those ancient texts have some pretty savvy political observations in them, or you're politely waiting for me to shut up about it. So I'm of two minds about continuing the prophets-v-Bronze Age-tinpot-dictators series. Please be charitable, and favour our jokes with a laugh or two. The cartoonists are trying their best, and it's not like we get paid or anything.

A word about the bottom section: I should have said this before. Yes, it's 'filler'. Yes, I keep writing these little picture stories and poems. Why? Well, over on social media – Bluesky and Twitter/X, to be exact – there are certain little daily writing challenges. The one I chose to do is called #vss365, for 'very short stories'. Someone who's It gives out a single word every day. The task is to write something using that word. I like to add images so I can save them for the Post. They might amuse you. If they annoy you, you know what to do: send.more.Stuff. End of advert.

Have the best week you can. Try not to worry. If you start to feel like Arthur Dent, please remind yourself that you're not on a spaceship (you aren't, are you?), go outside to prove it, and smell a flower. Then take a picture of the flower and send it to the Post.

Quote of the Week:
The idea that human beings differ in value based on their ancestry or where they were born is the most dangerous and despicable lie.
