h2g2 Post February 2024 Writing Challenge: The Unbearable Whiteness of Snow

A cross-country skier in a field of snow.
The weather tried to freeze him,

It tried its level best,

At a hundred degrees below zero

He buttoned up his vest.

'The Frozen Logger'

Snow: many of us have seen too much of it in the last weeks. Some people have never experienced it. What is your relationship to snow?

  • Do you have early memories of snow? What images does the White Stuff evoke for you?
  • Do you have any exciting/funny/nostalgic anecdotes of a snow-related variety?
  • Do you know any urban legends/folktales/songs about snow?
  • Do you love/hate/have a love-hate relationship with snow? Tell us about it.
  • Have you journeyed anywhere for a snow experience? To get away from snow?
  • If you have never seen snow, what are your associations with it?
  • Can you write a science fiction story/poem/song/essay about snow?

That's it: that's the theme. Go to work. It beats shovelling the driveway for the 42nd time this year.
