Limited release in the U.S., including a few film festivals. Even counting retrospectives, I've only ever gone to one festival (a Meryl Streep marathon in Brookline many years ago).
A movie about the filming of an earlier movie should be metacinema, shouldn't it? Everything is meta these days. We've had "The disaster artist." I guess "8 1/2" and "Nine" count in this category too. And maybe even "Singin' in the rain." How about "The artist"?
When the cinema industry starts to look back at how it has gotten where it is, can the end be far away?
