This week I learned that Helen Keller had gone on the vaudeville circuit. I thought that was an amazing thing to do because I've done a lot of reading about how strenuous vaudeville life was - it was definitely not how Captain Keller's daughter was raised on the old plantation...

Thank you smiley - ok

I appreciate the Word About a Word section smiley - ok

Please can we have 'disabled people' in footnote 2 rather than 'the disabled'? Also 'deaf-blind people' in the last paragraph?

I first learned about Helen Keller when I was 7, as part of her story was in my 'learn to read' book number 10 in school (which I had to read again when I was 8 because the new teacher didn't believe I had already read it smiley - laugh). However, the book didn't give me any appreciation of her adult life and her skills so this Entry and the video links are very informative smiley - ok

I have just re-read opticalillusion's entry on Helen Keller and she did mention the vaudeville and also Swedenborg. So I did know, but forgot smiley - silly

I curated the article (there were a lot of dead links). There's a nice picture on it, too.

smiley - cheers

smiley - cool Living in Pennsylvania, you become aware of unusual groups like Swedenborgians. Elektra worked for a Swedenborgian boss once, nice man.

We should probably do up a guide entry on Emmanuel Swedenborg one of these days. smiley - laugh One of my favourite stories was about the time he was eating in a restaurant and had a vision. A vast chasm opened up beside his table and a voice boomed out, 'Don't eat so much!'

Unusual man, Swedenborg. Really impressed Kant with his demonstrated clairsentience.
