Galahad held on tight to his mummy's hand in the crowds, clutching his new poster in the other, as they made their way through the park to see the Magical Merlin show.

He knew all the tales of King Arthur already, his mum was a huge Round Table fan, he'd even been named after his mummy's favourite Knight, and, to the jealousy of his school chums, he'd seen all the old films too.

But to be here, actually in Camelot!

The young lad couldn't believe his eyes. They'd seen the Knights jousting, the horses galloping and the clang of metal upon metal as the goody knights defeated, but only just, the Black Knight and his baddies.

Galahad really enjoyed booing the baddies and cheering the goodies, made him feel so proud when Lancelot had won and made his horse bow to King Arthur and Lady Guinevere.

Galahad would've given all his toys to ride one of those horses, point his lance at the Black Knight and charge!

He promised mummy he'd always be good when he grew up, would always be brave, and nice, and fight the baddies.

He'd asked his mum for a toy sword, shield, and helmet set as they were herded through Ye Olde Gifte Shoppe after the jousting, but mummy said they cost too many pennies, but he could have a poster of Merlin for his bedroom wall!

And now, finally, he was going to see the great Merlin in person. He hoped he wasn't going to be scared, Galahad didn't like being scared, but mummy told him Merlin was a good wizard, who helped Arthur do good things, like save ladies from dragons and things.

They walked into a big room with funny round seats that looked like steps. Galahad held on tighter to mum's hand as the lights went out and music started up.

In the middle of the step-seats, a strange, green mist rose up, lights flashed and then there was a loud bang. Galahad laughed, even though he was a bit frightened, because even the grown-ups jumped!

Then, out of the mist, Merlin appeared and Galahad was spellbound.

A bit later Merlin asked for a volunteer, he needed a young apprentice wizard. He was shocked when his mummy held up his hand in hers and shouted,

'Here's one! Pick him!'

Even more shocked when Merlin held out his wand and pointed it straight at him!

'Ladies and gentlemen, give this young man a big hand!'

Galahad didn't really want a big hand, his hands were just right, but he smiled and hopped down the step-seats to become a wizard.

This was the bestest day ever!

'What's your name, son?'

He opened his eyes, but couldn't see his mum calling.

'Galahad, we're here, wake up!'

The Deacon looked out of the police car window, rain battering against the glass.

He saw Lance talking to his Lancashire colleagues, asking them to stay in the area, thanking them for their diligence. He looked past the Vauxhall police car.

There, across the overgrown car park, was Camelot!
Galahad smiled at the memory of the bestest day ever with his adopted mother, opened the door and stepped into the rain behind Lance and Gwen.

Caiman raptor elk - Escaping the Array

The whole set is getting together..

Like the green smoke. Special effects are easy if you are a real wizard (unless you are a wizzard, then you jus run)
