'The answer is yes, but you should use a meatier tomato. There is apparently some controversy over seeding tomatoes in sauce. Some people seem to think the seeds create a bitter taste. I think it's probably no issue if the tomatoes are nice and meaty anyway. Either way, using fresh tomatoes tends to be a thinner consistency initially and you might want to adjust your cooking time, water and/or paste according. I still use some paste with fresh tomatoes but if you don't it will simply be a different consistency. '

I wouldn't have asked the question if I hadn't seen a video on youtube of the way Italian cooks make sauce from fresh tomatoes.
