Just Sit Still, We'll Move the Building

This is a remarkable building: in 1930, the telephone company in Indiana, USA, needed a new building. But the old one was in the way. Instead of tearing it down, they moved it – by rotating it 90°. 3/8 of an inch at a time. With everybody still using the building. They built a curved sidewalk so people could get in and out. It was a really clever thing.

The architect who came up with this idea was Kurt Vonnegut, Sr, the father of the famous science fiction novelist.
