Whale bones would have been my guess as well.

Whales stay warm thanks to their layers of blubber. The bones would not have hat advantage.

The insulation of blubber, nearly caused the extinction of whales

and some countries use "scientific research" as an excuse to continue killing them

At the time, it provided various "goods/luxuries etc" and profits!
Now-a-days that's not needed, so I hate countries that still kill whales and like species, using scientific research as an excuse to "feed" those that will pay big money for certain foods as sorts
IE - shark fin soup NO value whatsoever to human nutrition!!!

I have a hard time hating whole countries. That takes way more energy than I can spare. And, there are probably some nice people in those countries who don't deserve to be hated.

Unless they have sent soldiers to invade us.

But we have plenty of people in my own country who are bigger threats...

I don't ACTUALLY hate the countries or it's people
It's just a small few that do not give respect etc to ALL living creatures, whether in the "food chain" or for so called scientific purposes etc.

For food, at least kill humanly!

Most countries probably allow scientists to use mice for experiments. I have (or had) a distant cousin who used mice for experiments on heart problems.

I know "science/medical experiments etc" for human health etc is needed of course

But I still don't agree with causing/subjecting pain and suffering to lesser lifeforms, as not many species have the similar DNA structure to us.

I heard cats and pigs referred to as amazingly similar to us genetically.

Chimps and Bonobos are so genetically similar to us, that some people think they should be reclassified into the genus Homo, along with us. I would prefer not to do experiments on these animals.

Cats and cows are our closest matches outside of primates.

The funny thing is, I'm reluctant to eat cows and pigs. And I'd *never* eat a cat. Or any other primates.

But mice? They drive me berserk! I've ordered some mousetraps. I went to nibble some chocolate breakfast cereal last night and found three mice in the box.

apart from traps etc - don't put cheese on! It's a falsehood mice/rats hate cheese.
Try and find where they are getting in and put poison sachets down

I am not baiting any traps with cheese.

Until the whale genome is mapped, we won't know how similar their DNA is to ours, but in a lot of ways whales are comparable to us.
