It is as calming as you make it.

You would normally see more wave patterns, but taking out the camera is not very easy when in a skiff. (balance comes from keeping hold of the oars. Without the oars, it would be like trying to sit on top of a floating streamlined pole (8m long, probably 20-30cm wide at the waterline))

I prefer to exert myself a little, especially when it is windy.

It does look like a lake but it isn't. It is the river Aa, which looks wide due to the low viewpoint. Check out https://what3words.com/couches.with.cunning for the location (turn on satellite view to get the water in the right location). The photo is taken South.

On the photo, you can still see the signs of the motorway A2 running past.

On this late December day it was unusually warm (+12 degrees Centigrade), so I took off my fluorescent wind stopper. Normally it would be below zero at this time of year (no rowing allowed)
