Actually, I really *was* there, but not in 1880. My choral society did a concert tour of Prague, Vienna and Budapest in 2004. I loved the Central cafe. I have dreamed of writing about Joseph Haydn in his old age. I visited his house (made into a museum) in what was a suburb called Gumpendorf at the time. I saw his manuscripts and his piano.

To think that I was where the great man once lived. Napoleon's armies were fighting the Viennese army in his neighborhood. After four days of shelling, Haydn was too stressed out to live. He died.
