Wow, I never knew what Gugelhupfen was - it's a bundt cake! 
And 
that we're going to be in a cafe. Nothing says Vienna like a cafe. I hope famous people will show up...
Did you ever see the movie 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'? Where the mother-in-law brings the Greeks a bundt cake and they totally don't know what to do with it? They put a flower in a pot in the middle. Which is a very Greek thing to do.

I didn't know it's called bundt cake in English!
I saw the film but didn't remember that scene. 
Obviously Gugelhupf was a very important thing in cafès, especially during the Biedermaier (so 2st half of the 19th C.) if I remember correctly. Molds of the shape exist since the romans and basically only the ingredients changed depending on how rich you were.

I have fond memories of the day or two that I spent in Vienna.
I loved the Central cafe (was it really there as far back as 1880? 
).

I checked again.. the Café Central was founded in 1868. One of the oldest (or probably the oldest) that still exists is obviously from 1827.

We call that a "tulband" (turban) cake. My grandmother used to make these a lot. With raisins an rum included.
