The Chase. Part 22.

FWR

From the shelter of thick undergrowth, Tadhg and Rulf watched as the horsemen discovered the final snares, seized the game, and remounted.

Goubert did as Rulf hoped. Dismounting awkwardly, he bade his men to ride away and wait upon the ridge, waddled towards the stream, unfastening his breeches as he did.

Tadhg grinned, fighting to keep in a laugh at the weakness of the Norman's bladder when within the sound of water!

Six days straight he had topped up the stream, careful to wait until his men were out of sight to preserve his modesty, both prayed he would repeat his private ablutions on the following day.

They waited patiently, Goubert finishing unhurriedly, before clambering back into the ornate saddle and riding off.

They were sure to give time enough for the horsemen to be well on their way, before emerging from the bushes.

*Time to set our last trap my old friend, a fine boar pit is needed, for the morrow sees us poaching the Earl's weak-bladdered pig!*

GOubert is probably pronounced a bit like Goober. Not the sharpest of mental knives, I think. (It's not rocket surgery to maintain control by bullying those who are weaker).
