Kodomoroid looks realistic enough in colour, but black and white softens the features and 'skin' tones even more….unless this is an actual Japanese woman taking a break….'paging Doctor Calvin'...

There's something about her face that makes me think it's plastic.
This could be an a piece of art. Could we make her take a Turing test? smiley - laugh

I wouldn't risk armwrestling with her. Looks can be deceiving.

(checks what Kodomoroid means) (thanks for the clue, FWR! I was staring at the photo, particularly the hands.)

('No, surely not' I said to myself. This pretty lady is definitely not a human, but if not, then who is she?)

What???? Japan's first android newsreader?

(wonders how to return from this strange universe)

So, erm, what's Robbie doing, taking pics in this curious universe? Will he return?

What's happening in the background? I love the background. Is it like a newsroom then? Are the figures in the background human or android?

smiley - stiffdrink

What's wrong with human newsreaders? What if Robert Dougall and Richard Baker had been androids? They were the voice of the BBC news during the 60s, very secure childhood memory.

All very thought provoking. I need a drink. smiley - stiffdrink

This creeps me out bit smiley - flustered. There's a robot that moves around the local Stop and Shop store that I shop in. It beeps regularly, and there's often no apparent reason why it is near me. is it spying on me? ,yikes>

The other day it keep saying something about a "peril" in the vicinity, but there was nothing even remotely perilous nearby, except for the robot itself. smiley - cross

Yes, I've gone off topic a little bit. In an attempt to cross back over, I will say that I would be just as leery of an android newscaster as I am of my supermarket robot smiley - cross.

Wonder how many years of weather forecasting are needed to break even. (Salary vs development cost)

How many people do they need to maintain such a robot in working order? (probably more than for a flesh and blood one)

Yeah, I've thought about that, too.

smiley - shrug

I imagine that most shoppers are intrigued by the robot.
