Sometimes you don't appreciate an actor's ability to do a double-take and make it funny. Patel is a riot when he comes up against a new wrinkle in his "new" universe. First he tells a friend that he would kill for a cigarette. His comment is met with a blank look (what, no cigarettes either here?). Then, he asks for a Coke, meaning Coca Cola, and they've never heard of that either. A little later, he mentions Harry Potter. No Potter either?!!!
Patel's discomfort is palpable, yet the clueless people in his new universe seem unable to notice. What fresh hell is this anyway?
You can read so much on his face. Why haven't I noticed this actor before? He's been wasted on some television soap opera called "Eastenders" for decades. Maybe he's just good at playing the Hapless Harry type of character, someone whose best skill is reacting to each new times Lady Luck dumps on him .
