Sometimes it is really awkward talking to people that you don't know so here are some bad puns you can steal- I mean use to help break the ice.
"How many pounds does a polar bear weigh?"
"Idk"
"Enough to break the ice; hi I'm *insert name here."
"You know why sand is called sand?"
"No, why?"
"Because it is in the middle of the sea and the land."
"You have to be king-smart to have a kingdom."
"It should be called teethpaste not toothpaste."
