A Conversation for SashaQ's NaJoPoMo 2017: Q's the Word

SQ NaJoPoMo 2017 - 18: Q is for Queens

On 1 November, I talked about Queen the band, who have a few Entries in the Edited Guide.

However, Queen isn't the only Queen in the Guide, so today I shall look at the other Queen Entries in the Q list smiley - biggrin

Queen Victoria gets top billing, thanks to Galaxy Babe's excellent 2007 University Project on her A13915181 I see there are a few other Entries about Victoria, including one about Royal Chocolate Bars A16858696 one about her children A393879 and one about Queen Victoria's Railway A55136450 which I quite like because I recognise some of the places that were on the line but which leaves me wanting more... There is also the chilling tale of The Queen Victoria Blast Furnace Explosion, 1975 A84799985 which is fine in itself, but the Entry linked in the conversation thread is indeed better, being richer in human detail...

Queen Elizabeth II features courtesy of Galaxy Babe, with her own Entry A8466339 plus one on the Diamond Jubilee Concert A8466339 Sadly there isn't an Entry on the Golden Jubilee Concert, which was only notable to me because Brian May played the National Anthem on the roof of Buckingham Palace wearing a jacket made especially for the occasion smiley - cool The Queen Mother appears, thanks to a University Project by Demon Drawer A735798 and Queen's Speech Bingo A43600330 is an excellent Entry by Icy North containing an analysis of the words used in the Queen's Christmas Message smiley - biggrin

Another Entry by Demon Drawer A394391 introduced me to Queen Anne, whom I had heard of thanks to the furniture, but didn't know about her difficult life... A87777445 by Galaxy Babe tells another sad tale about Queen Caroline's Tragic Final Journey.

Queen of the Wight Isabella de Fortibus A87780397 has an Entry courtesy of Bluebottle, of course. Another hard life, with a tragedy at the end that her lands were taken in suspicious circumstances, but excellent that she was able to hold her position in a male dominated world and enjoy comfort for a number of years...

I've seen Queen Nefertiti's Bust A10422019 in Berlin, and this Entry by Galaxy Babe is informative about the Queen's strong role alongside the Pharaoh, as well as about the history of the artefact itself.

'Queen of the Damned' - the Film A830369 is an amusing Entry about a film that seems to have left a lot to be desired in being a sequal to 'Interview with a Vampire' smiley - laugh (not that I've seen either film).

There is also an Entry about The Queen's Guide Award in the UK A4174922 - very informative, especially that it links in with the skills in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Only 75 young women achieved it in 2005, but they got a certificate signed by the Chief Guide (who I know was originally Lady Baden-Powell) as well as the Queen, of course. I am adding this to my list of Entries that need a bit of attention, as there are a few typos and a bit of a GuideML problem in it, but otherwise I enjoyed reading it smiley - biggrin

Ah! I can imagine it was - I used to drive past it every day, but never had occasion to go in, as it was always The 'Narve' where my friends wanted to meet...
