I didn't manage to finish this Entry in June A87889658 *watches the deadline go whooshing by* but I thought it is quite an apt story for this topic - Vernon survived active service in World War I but was then killed during a training exercise. How different things might have been if he hadn't survived active service, or if he had survived the training exercise...
