The Unicorn

The unicorn's a fastidious beast
who daily polishes his silver horn
until it gleams and chooses to feast
on chanterelle mushrooms, picked at dawn.
So if you imagined his idea of fun
it might be a ballet of flowing grace
or painting landscapes in southern sun.
In fact he resorts to a seaside place
by the name of Brighton, where by the sea,
he mounts a unicycle, takes a ride
with flowing mane and a look of glee
while the people cheer on every side.
