I will classify myself as;
4. Navigator. I steer by the stars because I trust them more than high-fangled tech.
Although I remember one night voyage when I releaved the man on the wheel he told me he had been steering by a star that had turned out to be the tail light of a 747 Aircraft

I keep hoping to get to the part when the small flying mammals come out of theirs cave

Nigel, of course, is a combination of #9 and #10. He reads BATS because he wants to make sure his alien neighbours don't miss anything important. He wears a tinfoil hat to hide his thoughts from the uber-rationalists. 
Me, I guess I'm #3. I may only be able to identify a few constellations, but I can probably tell you what alien species hails from there. I read BATS because it's always full of wonderful surprises.

My eyesight's not good enough to be an astronomer, but I do enjoy reading about it.
I read BATS because, to quote Arthur C Clarke, 'My God, it's full of stars!'

None of the above, no, not really but a mixture of 9 + 11 might pass muster.
I read BATS for the same reason I look at APOD most days - 'cos I enjoy reading about where I live.
(have you seen APOD for April 1st?)
