Okay, I'm putting my money where my mouth is here.

I've been railing at people to write SHORT guide entries, to help us provide content, and make sure we sustain reader interest.

This one is 668 words long and covers the subject. smiley - whistle

We should be able to find a picture somewhere - the book's from 1837.

Oh, and I spelled his name wrong in the heading. Corrected to Toepffer.

*rolls up sleeves*

smiley - biroIs there a reason that it's spelt Töpffer in the main text, but Toepffer in the title? Is it the way to present the ö if you're not allowed to use an umlaut? If so, you have managed to teach me yet another thing.

smiley - biroUh, that's it. smiley - biggrin

Lovely as always, my dear.

smiley - laugh Thanks, Vip.

That was it. I had so much trouble with Constantine Brancusi, who gets a hat on his 'a'. He's supposed to get a cedilla on his 's', but that's a lost cause around here. smiley - winkeye

If you can't do an umlaut, you're supposed to put in an 'e'. Those are the German rules, and the German rules are gut, ja? smiley - whistle

As to why that guy had one 'p' and TWO, count 'em, TWO, 'ff's in his name, well, Switzerland is a very strange place, IMO. smiley - run

I am *so* glad I suggested that, rather than thinking, rather smugly, that I had actually managed to catch you out. smiley - laugh

Will Pliny (is it Pliny? I am so out of the loop now!) have support for all those extra characters?
