The h2g2 Poem

Hallowe'en
The night draws in much earlier
The owls begin to screech
The frogs and toads
All scurry away
To hide well out of reach
The spiders weave their silvery webs
Spun to enchant and entrap.
Black cats preen
And clean themselves
Waiting by their flap.
The dogs all rush their walks
Straining away on their lead.
They'd much rather be
At home, safely
Hiding under the beds.
Children rush excitedly
Galloping through their chores
They just can't wait
To get dressed up
And escape out of doors.
Parents paint up faces,
Don robes and fasten links
Then bundle kids out
Into the street -
They're ready for some drinks!
Grans and grandads check their store
Of hidden chocs and sweets
For they know tonight
They'll get a fright
And trade some tricks for treats.
