My dear lad I have to commend you on your entry. Its very elaborate and precise to the T. Its great how you put so much research into this and then brought it to the section of the public that was unaware but curious about the whole matter in general. I always like Marilyn Manson but I never really had any background on him and his band. I did not know they changed band memebers so much. I think should definitely be submitted in "The Guide" and if you have anymore ideas please send them in because I would love to read them. Keep up the good work!

Well, um, liked it. Comprehensive this. What a lot of bandmembers - why so many, do you think? Is whatsit a 'difficult' character?
One thing I did want was a description of the music. And I also wondered whether a brief discussion of the controversy angle wouldn't be fun. I mean, there am I barrelling along and suddenly I'm in the middle of an article about a band who have the names of serial killers and the most interesting names for songs/albums, and I'm thinking "I bet this raised a few eyebrows", but not getting the, er, dirt dishing. If you see what I mean.
In short: is the band so influential cos of the music, and if so, what about the music. Or is it the controversy/attitude of the band? And if that's true, what gives with that?

I, personally liked the fact that the entry does not categorise their style of music (apart from calling it industrial). I've heard and red so many arguments about that, that I don't think more statements about it would really improve the entry.

Oh, no, I agree: I didn't mean catagorise it. Which I never find terribly helpful as I never know the catagories to start off with. I meant describe it. Or say something about what is it about it which makes it so special, which I assume is not just that it's shocking. If you see what I mean?

I think I agree with Slonushka - I think this could benefit from something short about the controversy and their stage show and style. Love them or loath them, they are in a new kind of category. It's an excellent start, though.

Bah Newt! You got there before me. Ok, I'm getting off my bum and writing the diseection of AntiChrist Superstar as fast as possible now!
An excellent breakdown of the history of the band - albeit a little brief.
Just a few mistakes that do need correcting...as far as I knew, the live album between Mechanical Animals and HolyWood was titled "The Long Hard Road Out of Hell" and also, I wouldn't really class them as Industrial Rock, but that could just be my personal preference. More just "rock" music, because it encorperates the wide spectrum of plain old rock and roll - from Elvis to David Bowie to KISS...comapre them to bands like Skinny Puppy and Psychic TV, and they sound completely rock and roll.
But otherwise, an excellent article!

Clothes. Gotta have something about the clothes. Think of the excitement you'll cause amongst the h2g2 artists!

I'm working on a dissection of the albums as we speak - starting off with Antichrist Superstar - if that helps anyone. Should be finished sometime soon...so that will contain all necessary "knowledge" about the music.
Perhaps someone should do a seperate Guide Entry on the stageshow - starting from the early ones in the clubs, right up to the "Guns, God and Government" tour. That way, clothes, imagery and controversy could be documented on their own? They are really a catagory of their own when it comes to Marilyn Manson.

Well he could if he wanted! We aren't in collusion, no. It just happened that I was wandering around the site last night and saw he had written on a topic that I was planning to do something on soon. Similar interests. You can have a look at the half finish Antichrist guide entry that I've written on my userspace if you like. I'm more into the politics of the individual Marilyn Manson, than the band. Hence why I prefer the idea of dissecting the albums. More about what I know!

Alright, I finally have a day off and can work on this some more. Okay I have a few ideas for the stage shows, and I can elaporate more on the controversy of the band. I believe that now days Rock is just to general of a way to describe a band, cause there are so many more sounds to the rock world now. And I think that Industrial rock is a great way to describe them cause each album sounds different than the next. I'll work on it tonight and tomorrow, and try to come up with some things that everyone will enjoy. oh yeah, and "The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell" is the name of Marilyn Manson's book, it's also the name of a song which they wrote for the Spawn Movie.

Could have SWORN it was the title of the live album as well. But I could be wrong, seeing as I still haven't got around to buying it. I'll take your word for it Newt. I'll make sure I shove in a link to your article on mine when it is done...!

I made some more changes to the entry about the band's stage shows and controversy the band caused. I tried to keep the flow of the entry running the same about the history of the band, but I might be able to elaborate a little more on why the members of the band keep changing. I am going to start working on that and if anyone has a good idea on something to add or change, please tell me.

Have you included the infamous early stageshow? The one with the pregnant girl ironing out a swastika flag...then she performs a self abortion, wraps up the foetus and offers it to the TV? I love that one. It's on the "Demystifying the Devil" video if anyone wants to see a clip.

No I didn't add that, I just said what some of their shows featured. Although that is a great show.

Remind me to immortalise it at some point on here then...
Just went and had a look at the update. Pretty good, although I didn't like the use of the word "twisted" in relation to the stageshow. Try something lke "a mirror image" instead.

And I hate to say this, but is there any chance you could change the title of it? "Marilyn Manson - the Band" would sound better, because well...they only recorded demo's under the original name, and they aren't called that now.
