kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website

Ok, I think I'm organised now, apologies for the delay (damn real life).

If you can help please go to this page and read the two threads and jump on in:

While not actually a help page, I would like to suggest the Askh2g2 page. There is a message at the top stating not to ask there about h2g2 itself but to do that at the feedback forums.

Whilst I personally agree with the original plan of using the feedback forums for h2g2 questions because that way conversations about h2g2 itself are all in one place and are more easily found later and by those not watching askh2g2 at the time, the reality is the feedback forums are almost empty even in these interesting times and conversations about h2g2 are taking place in ask.

Another thing that isn't a help page as such but will need changing is the disclaimer in Brunel for non edited entries.

It says
The content on h2g2 is created by h2g2's Researchers, who are members of the public. Unlike Edited Guide Entries, the content on this page has not necessarily been checked by a BBC editor. If you feel this page could be improved, why not join the community and edit the page or start a conversation?

The disclaimer in Alabaster and Goo mentions the BBC too so that will also need to be changed but the Brunel one is just wrong about the ability to edit the page. It didn't used to say that and was changed at some point but no one knew who had changed it or why when I asked last time.

That's a good point, BrownFurby. What would we want to change about this item or the equivalents in Goo and Alabaster? Either the page can be edited, or it can't. If it can, then the Goo and Alabaster versions need to be changed. If it can't, then the Brunel needs to drop the reference to editing.

I can't remember whether the new Hootoo will allow such changes. Does anyone know?

The new h2g2 will be running exactly the same code as the current one, at least initially. So no, people won't be able to edit each others' pages.

Thanks. That answers it. The Brunel item needs to lose the reference to editing. It also needs to lose references to the BBC.
