The best Dead Ringers Sketches

1 Conversation

Dead Ringers is a Radio 4 comedy series that pokes fun and does take off of famous people, films, TV series and other things with a series of impressionists taking on their voices. Here are three of the best sketches and the stand alone TV episode.

Setting: The White House, just after the Zimbabwean elections
Aid: Mr President, I'm afraid I have some bad news
G.W.Bush: What, you mean their not bringing the Muppet show back after all?
Aid: Not about that sir, its the Zimbabwean election. Its been won by a man whose willing to stuff the ballot boxes with fake votes and cheat his way to power.
G.W.Bush: That's wonderful. When do I begin.
Aid: Not you sir, its Robert Mugabi
G.W.Bush: Well why didn't you say so in the first place. This is the problem with you guys from Washington C.D. Your lingustical vocalisation leaves a lot to be dimanitated. Why cant you speak in clear and incomplicatary way, like me, the president of these United Slates of Ameoba
Aid: Yes sir. But what about...
G.W.Bush: Don't worry about Robert Mugabi and the country of Zimbarberallia. I've added them to my list of hostilioucs nations to Nuke

Setting: Back in the White house, during the bombing of Afghanistan
G.W.Bush: Phase 1 of the war on terror is complete, we now move on to phase B
Aid: All right sir lets look at the list (on a black board is a list of countries, Britain, Iraq, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, aid is holding a stick)
Aid: Now which one's Zimbabwe sir
G.W.Bush: Err, gimme that (takes stick) B, R, I, T, A, I, N... Zimbabwe!
Aid: No, that's not right Mr President, do you remember the game we played with your favourite show
G.W.Bush: Yeah! (starts singing) One of these nations ain't like the others, one of these countries shouldn't be bombed, can you tell which one is not like the others, now its time to play our game!(stops singing)
Aid: Spotted the odd one out yet Mr President
G.W.Bush: Yeah, its the stick.

Setting: Secret base, after the Greek planespotter fiasco
Blofeld: So Mr Bond, ve meet at last. Seat here vile I stroke dis cat und explain how I'm going to kill you so slowly and boringly, that it allows you to escape
Bond: You fiend
Blofeld: Tell me Mr Bond, vhat vere you doing at my secret air base
Bond: I was spying
Blofeld: Do not treat me like a fool Mr Bond. I put it to you that you were plane spotting!
Bond: Never!
Blofeld: When we found you had a notebook full of numbers, and you were wearing an anorak.
Bond: It may look like an anorak but it is in fact a satellite receiver used for spying
Blofeld: Nonsense! Its was just a naf, pull on raincoat, the first tool of the plane spotters trade.
Bond: How do you explain these
Blofeld: Your national health glasses taped up at one side with a bit of plaster.
Bond: They may look like glasses, but they in fact a missile launcher!
Blodfeld: Rubbish! There just spoddy plane spotters specks!
Bond: All right Blofeld, you win, do you expect me to talk!
Blofeld: Oh no, please no! No its all 'I saw a bowing 777' this and 'oh look at C-54 American transport plane' that, NO! Boring. I'm afraid its time to die
Bond: Damn you Blofeld, if only I could reach my special pen
Blofeld: That wont help you Mr Bond. Those chains are far to strong for any secret laser.
Bond: What laser. No a 1942 A-4 Skyhawk went by and I wanted to write the number down.
