The well is closed with a lid, something like a trapdoor you can easily open. You have to let the bucket plunge in quite quickly so that the snails and worms and the other junk doesn´t get into it. And then: PULL! And please bring it into the kitchen...

*drops bucket into well*
*splash*
*pulls bucket up*
Emties into other bucket*
Takes the buckets and plums*
*goes into the garden*
