A Conversation for The Post Time-Travel Challenge: No Time like the Omnipresent

I was raised a Catholic and we didn't do much of that old Bible stuff, so I don't know the original story, but I think I can guess.
Are you still taking entries for this challenge?

Good story. Though I have a feeling that I need to know my Bible better.
If you were going to try to sound clever (which, in my experience, is usually a mistake on hootoo) you would say something on the following lines:
"When constructing a time-travelling machine, care needs to be taken in the design of the time-space co-ordinates. Even ruling out the possibility of inter-planetary travel, they need to be based on some universal Earth-time. It sounds as if that this designer chose the Western, or Christian calendar. The time at which he arrived might have been 1893 in the reckoning of some other ethnic group."

Heh heh. And mvp designing the footnotes now .
Ah, how I love to mix with these peculiar - nice peculiar - science fiction type people. , although I'm not sure what I would do if I met one of them at the ticket counter at the station. . And where are you travelling to today, then, my friend? I would ask, concealing my ticket to Bognor Regis in my packet of biccies.
?? Am I making sense today?
No Time Like the (Omni)Present?? Ah! I wish I'd said that. Ah well. And I wish I'd said . Its OK that I didn't, almost, . I like to mix with brilliant people. And I have biscuits. And now I am going to go get on the train to Bognor Regis and eat them. Well, I'm not really. I just said that.

I've always thought that Bognor Regis sounded like a totally romantic destination. Thanks, CC.
And thanks, MVP. Your footnote is perfect. That's exactly what I meant by nattering on about Dennis the Short.
Gnomon, please write away. Let's leave this challenge open for a bit. I want more time-travel stories. It's the ultimate hootooer experience.
Oh, speaking of footnotes, maybe I should stick in the reference for Elijahu Ha-Navi. Here is the story in a readable English version, no need for the Universal Translator:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Kings+1&version=NIV
Oh, and a song about Elijah that I particularly like, but it's in Hebrew:

Note: Elijah is quite an epic character, a true sorceror, and of course, the second hitchhiker to the galaxy in the Bible. (He gets picked up by a spaceship called the 'Merkavah'.)

It seems to me that the morals of this story are:
make sure that your houses are properly constructed and comply with Building Regulations;
avoid travelling in high mountains in bad weather.

True. And that was the *king*!
Also: Do not consult the Lord of the Flies, because he is a liar. And do not irritate grump prophets who throw fireballs.
