I've just read the article about your group and had to check it out. I think I'd like to join. It seems to be the ideal group to hang out with.
I noticed one omission to your group, though. I think your list should include Garfield. About a dozen years ago I had a poster with Garfield on it. He was biting down on the top of a large yellow 'Smiley' button. The bottom of the button was broken off and laying in front of him. The caption was 'Have a Nice Day'. I think it would be highly appropriate for the group.
As a further note, I have a cat with an attitude to nominate for membership. Her name is 'Sassy' and she is colored like a lilac point Siamese, although she is definately not Siamese.
I'll be waiting for you response. Thank you.

Welcome to PUDDING, Raymond. There's always room for another curmudgeon here! I'm delighted, too, to add Sassy to Cantankerous Cats' Corner.
Garfield! You're so right - I can't believe I never thought of him as a hero of PUDDING before. The omission has been rectified. for pointing it out!

It just dawned on me: there are two other curmudgeons who should be included in the PUDDING list. If not Heroes of PUDDING, at least honorable mention. I refer to Statler and Waldorf from Jim Henson's Muppets. If you are unfamiliar with them, they are the two hecklers in the audience on "The Muppet Show".

Sorry, I didn't spot your posting until this morning. THAT question took me entirely off guard. I own several copies of the book, my wife has the movie, I was even in the play when I was an undergraduate. I COULD NOT think of the name. I couldn't find the books, couldn't find the movie, I was drawing a blank. Like a photographic memory with no film. FINALLY! I got it. The name of the donkey in Orwell's "Animal Farm" is Old Benjamin. Whew! That was a toughie! I guess I'll have to defer to the REAL expert. My memory isn't what it used to be.

ANYTHING but plain. I like bagels with flavor. Hmmmm. . . By the way, we've got , , , and smileys, but now real smiley. Maybe we should campaign for one of those, too. Sounds like FUN! I'll have to take a nap to prepare for that.

Did inspiration as to the appearance of the Grumpy smiley strike? After all tis something all PUDDING could unite behind
