That's pretty much it. But I think he's widely misunderstood - I think what he's attempting to do is to show that there's no difference between experimenting on a severely disabled baby and an animal that operated at a similar level of consciousness. His challenge is to show why there's a difference. I don't think (though I'd want to re-read it to be sure) that he really advocates either.

Singer does think that experiments on animals can sometimes be justified, btw. Animals don't feel dread in the same way that humans do, so an animal will have no idea that it's about to be killed in advance of the procedure starting, and will therefore suffer less if (for consequential reasons) an experiment or programme of experiments is required. But humans should be used for non-lethal / seriously painful experiments because they will understand what's going on and not feel mortal fear when the process starts.

I think that was the point he was making, and he was extremly misinterpreted. I sometimes agree with him but I don't think the majority of society does.

I think the most important thing is to put more investment into genuine alternatives, rather than the 3 r's which should be done anyway.

I think people take too much information out of animal rights websites (yes I mean you, PETA, and Uncaged)

BEWARE: these organisations are arrogant and dogmatic, also they lie and twist information, they are also very selective,

There is a website in favour of Vivisection (Pro-Test) and also
without animal testing we would know nothing about blood types or the immune system,

Speicism (treating something differently as it is not the same species as you) is technechly in every single animal there is alive, it dose technechly exist as it is natural to treat other species differently, (when was the last time you saw a wolf talking to a sheep)
But, putting speciesm along the same lines of sexism and racism is a massive insult, Speicism is neccesary for human kind (and animal kind) without it the human race would come to a standstill, sexism and racism are on the other hand, if every human bieng was sexist or racist the Human race would come to a standstill

so that raises the point of even if animals are equal (witch they are not as they do not have a concience only natural instincts, but this is opinion)but as anyway, even if they are equal to us, Do we have to treat them equaly?,

I believe that they are not equal to humans and we should get the best that we can out of them,
