Yay! I was beginning to think I was the only one who was happy with it. The way people at work have grumbled and horror expressed on the front of the tabloids made me think I was alone. Here is hoping it actually does some good to the NHS.

Personally I'm more than happy with the prospect of 14p off a pint of real ale. But I see you've already been celebrating that one Munchkin...

Not alcopops, duty on those is going up to pay for the lack of it on proper drinks. Anyone who doesn't like their alcohol to taste of alcohol ought to take it intravenously anyway.

Well, so long as is price-protected...
I like alcohol to taste like alcohol too. I also like to stay within the House Rules, so I won't say what that WKD stuff tastes like...

It is one of my life goals to never find out what it tastes like.
My ex-brewer friend reckons that the 14p a pint off small breweries will mostly go to keeping them open, which is still good to me. Down with Interbrew I cry.

It's probably a good idea. I know there are environmental arguments for increasing fuel duty, but I think British drivers have been clobbered enough for the time being. We don't really want more fuel protests by lorry drivers, do we?

Not unless you're thinking of setting up a mobile snack bar alongside the road blockades...
By the way, ta ever so for a ripping write-up Ormy - t'was most enjoyable.
