I know by now! still you know what they say out of sight is out of mind and I realised i'd been doing so much scouting this afternoon that I'd pushed this out of sight well to those who don't wander amongst the backlog!

Fine entry, Z. I'm always happy to see new entries on northern English towns, even if this one is about a place on the wrong side of the Pennines. smiley - winkeye

Just one bit puzzled me slightly: 'Leaving Skelmersdale by car is easy, you take the m58 then the M6.' Why do you particularly recommend this route? There must be plenty of ways out of Skelmersdale, surely?

Oh yes I suspose there are but I was thinking that anywhere a distance away is going to involve going on the motorway. I'll reword this later today.

Gordon, Ringer of Bells, Keeper of Postal Codes and Maps No One Can Re-fold Properly

Found a couple more in the bit "Getting to Skelmersdale":

First para: "...which is on the West Coast Main Line..." (original text has "...one the...". Also, I've always seen the WCML with caps on all four words.

Second para: Skelmersdale needs to be capitalized. There are also come punctuation marks that could be added to clarify the first sentence a bit.

Fix these and I think we have something that can be recommended. smiley - smiley

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Glad to see this get in. Probably too late, but you may want to include the fact that Skelmersdale's fortunes took a dive after the town's biggest employer, Courtauld's, closed their mill in the 1970's. The site is now used by Matalan. Courtaulds opened the mill with the help of large government grants, but when they dried up they moved out.
