In 944 King Edmund apparently granted some land at Bramptford Speke, just north of Exeter. In the charter King Edmund is described as "King of the English, and ruler of this province of Britons".

This is quoted on a number of websites discussing the constitutional status of Cornwall.
But this is not Cornwall, it is Devon.

The Cornish Nationalists claim that they are a Duchy, i.e. The Duchy of Cornwall, and not a county. They conveniently ignore the fact that there is far more Duchy land in Devon than there is in Cornwall.
