What county is London in?

This is a question that you may end up asking yourself whenever you have to fill in forms asking for a city/town and a county. There are actually two places called 'London', the 'City of London', sometimes known as the 'square mile', which is a small area next to the 'City of Westminster'. In terms of the administrative system, both 'cities' are boroughs of 'Greater London'. If pushed, you could say that London is in the county of 'Greater London', but actually London doesn't have a county. The postal system is another thing though, and some areas officially within Greater London retain their original counties. For example, Bexleyheath, whilst in the London Borough of Bexley is still generally addressed as 'Kent'.
