Thank you Lucinda. As I said in the introduction, the beast seems to have trotted off into the undergrowth somewhere. I am sure she is having a lovely time...

Putting things into words tends to remove their power, for me. Which is one of the reasons why most of my other poems are sad. But I did not know that happened when I wrote this one. It seems a long time ago now. I must admit, I am fond of it again, when I re-read it.
