The only bit I struggled with was 2 about jurisdiction. Am I right in thinking the fictional case was: about the devil suing Webster. Webster’s defence was that the devil was not able to sue him because the devil was not a US citizen. It was proved that the devil was a US citizen, but Webster still won the case?

Jury nullification.

Thanks for pointing that out, Sasha. I rewrote that a bit and added a footnote - so the next question isn't 'what the heck is jury nullification?' You've got it in the UK, too, but when I looked it up, it says, 'perverse verdict', which is a cool term.
