wow! totally amaaaazing .... Willem's drawings ... thankyou Willem .. if you are reading this ... .... or even if you're not .... .....

.... what a gift ... the gift of freehand drawing ..

s'cuse me .. just have to lay down some lines as inspired by your essay .. ignore me .. I too will pass ... .....

funny innit .. the different ways we all have .. the different channels ... the myriad routes of the human mind ... and the myriad reasons for travelling along these routes ..

from the creation of a symphony ....to a smile in a field of dandelions ..... from a hiccup to a heavenscent ....

... the artistry of being human ......a celebration of individuality ... what? ..s'cuse me ...just have a coffee ... .. bit early for such intense thoughts ....

all the artists and seers and dreamers who I know say that an image somehow goes through a transformation on its journey from the mind ... through the channel of the senses ... to the canvas/stage/page/screen/CD .... etc etc etc ..... like trying to describe a dream ... the journey starts with the essence ... but the manifestation of that essence shapeshifts as it goes on its journey ...

whoah ... .... yay! ...

like ..... the sound of the scent of yellow wallflowers .... ... ah yes ..... ... yes ... yes .....

and then you mention wallpaper ... ... so now I just moved into a new world ... a room ... that room ... with the yellow flowers on the wallpaper ... I never went to that room before ....I don't even know what it is ... or where it is .. like a dream ......

but I like to travel like that .... ... cheaper than outer travel .....

and now I must pay homage to the spirit of freehand drawing .... drawing kept me sane from the age of five for years and years and years .... took me through breakdown and breakthrough .. the pen was my salvation and my saviour .. my syringe and my survival .. each line was a tentative strand linking one moment to the next ... I would scratch out skulls and crows and moths and lizards and crucifixes .. garlands of leaves and lilies threading through fractal whispers .. as if something was guiding my hand ...



I think if I had any technical ability and professional potential I would still be drawing now ... ... or maybe not .. whatever takes you there at different times of life perhaps ... now I draw images with words and camera and draw sounds with my synthesizer .....

and enjoy the many layered artistic works of Willem and you ... and the multitude of wondrous creative humans who cross my path .... ....

You know what, I still can't do a millionth of what I would like to be able to do. I still suspect there must somehow somewhere in my mind be some kind of massive psychological block that's preventing me from reaching my full potential of creativity, to *really* unleash the pictures I have in my head. But I'm working at it ...

If you could do it all already, I would be too intimidated to learn from you, maybe...

I am learning so much from your amazing explanation of process.

Alas, perhaps I will someday write as I would like, as well.

One can never stop learning Dmitri! If there's anything specifically you'd like to ask about 'the artistic process' please do so ... I'll answer as far as I am able to. As for writing, I wish I could do it as well as you do! But if you want to write even better - then all the best with that.
