This is something that's too long to decide on alone. Plus, different people have different POVs. What do u think?

You're totally right.
I dont' think there is a true definition of love, but it's up
to each individual to conclude if it is love or not!
And; love can be so many different things...

The Ancient Greeks had at least 3 different words for Love, including Love of Friends & Family, Erotic love and Worship love.

Not every language in the world has a word for "Romantic love"

My POV - it doesn't exist. Its a big con. Its all chemicals in the brain. And I am pleased to say that my parents have given me this terminally pessimistic view of humanity.

Love is - a personal experience, so what one person feels will never be what another one does - and it is NEVER like it is in the movies.

Well, at the end of the day, all that matters is if you're happy - within expectations. No-one lives "happily ever after", but if you think you'd be happier without "love" or pretending to conform to other's expectations, that may well be better for you. I don't know.

A good idea.
Yet I like helping people by being there, and just silently listening and comforting them - but mainly by being there. That doesn't work very well over the internet.
And I know how hard it can be with families - my Mum & step-dad recently moved house so that I wouldn't be able to live with them anymore - big panic on what I'll be doing over the summer etc...

That's the main problem. We do need to talk of certain things in order to (simply) share our world with other's, but a couple of issues get desacralised when spoken of, and this is definitely love's case. I mean that the only fact of speaking of it breaks something essential in the subject. (we speak of smthg therefore we have to consider it from the outside, therefore we can no longer see its internal perfection therefore FLOP)
To avoid it, there is only one solution :
KEPZ

KEPZ is just KEPZ, and I still have to invent what it means in order to peply to you and , afore all, finish my Philosophy "dissertation" for the next week. (and thus resolving the human aporetical status)

O don't be disapointed, the idea may come fater than even I presume.Let's say a week for instance, which is the exact period of disapearing I am bound to. Besides, there is something more than a let down in the non existence of Kepz. Yes, indeed there is something charming, like in the 34th (?) page of the Monty Python Paperbok <-- their "mistake". Don't blame them (after all they are kin to your dear Fabulous ones) but they have done something very similar to kepz, and it's considered as the essential (what an interesting word) kernael of their opi.

Me? Pancakes.
You do not want to know the disaster area our kitchen turned into today. Ian managed to get mix literally *everywhere*, the floor, oven etc... Garfie set fire to a few things, and melted the bottle containing oil.. Almost flipped a full-of-oil frying pan pancake....

I gave up, I ran away.
I may need somewhere to stay when they burn the house down.

Our's lasted about 2 months, I think, before the landlady removed it. She's fitted a new kitchen there now (she told us she'd do that just as we left...), and hopefully will have to rip the whole thing out again as dry rot permeates brick... We did not like our landlady. I considered naming the fungus after her (in which case it'd be Sylvia), but it ended up being called Alec after the guy I had to share a room with in halls.

It is kind of funny to see a topic that says "What is Love?" and a conversation about fungus. Not that I have anything against fungus mind....I know alot of fun guys. (I know, I'm sorry, I can't help it. I was dubbed queen of bad jokes, and one must live up to one's rep, you know).

May I just add to this fungal conversation that the best fungus I ever saw was to be found at the bottom of a bottle of Egyptian Beer... called Stella (no... not the weak lager stuff) Each bottle had it's own personal garden of interesting growth, including stems and buds The beer was good though

Very true... but I doubt that the Egyptian Stella would get past the ridiculous health and safety laws of this country LOL. It is probably only a matter of time before they try to ban beer altogether on the grounds that it is *fungal* LOL

If alcohol was discovered tomorrow, it would be illegal. With the health and safety releted side effects, it would never be legalised. Its just that it has been around so long that it is accepted.

Sorry Shorty, I didn't mean to offend anyone. That one depends on your point of view, I guess - I was thinking more reduced to the state of, say, a politician when I posted that message.

We used to live next-door to a family called 'Leek' - appropriate, I guess, as my family's surname is 'Wade'. Even worse, one of the assistants at my Dad's school has the double-barrelled surname 'Rainy-Dronfield' (not sure that that's how it's spelt, but that's how it's pronounced). And there's a guy who goes thundering up and down the road my parent's live on in his showy 4x4, particularly when it's snowy, which has the numberplate M10PYA. I wonder if anyone's told him that's the medical term (albeit phonetically) for short-sightedness I really can't believe it's his surname!

I actually believe you can apply almost every metaphor to almost every subject (our little heads always manage to relate two things).
This implies on the one hand that no metaphor can pretend to be accurate but on the other hand that the more metaphors you make, the more webs you have to catch reality. (with all the advantages and disadvantages of webs (was that a metaphor?))

As for love....

Depends on the sort of Agar, really, doesn't it? But I don't think they are quite like us. I have yet to meet an unhappy agar dish. I do not think I seen one that is love-sick, either. They have a pretty good deal, if you ask me...
But, on a more serious note, agar dishes are fine as friends, and even having a crush on them is okay. But NEVER fall in love with them. They will break your heart. Such love is doomed from the beginning. They will never return it. And you will be left empty and alone.

They're always linked in Shakespeare plays, but considering they have ghosts and sword fights and everyone dying right at the end, they're not the most realistic.

Oh, and Juliet married Romeo when she was 13. Am I the only one to think Shakespeare was a dirty old man?

This is by far one of the best forum I've read in all my days at h2g2 (which are not many, but I've read lots in a short time). Thanks for the giggles. Though, I suppose I have to give some credit to the two glasses of bad Chianti I've consumed (brought them over from that other pub...I know there is no bad wine here ). I read from love to mould in 15 minutes. A perfect evolution.

Yes, I meant the result of meeting the jagged edges....
A spiral escalator would be a very interesting idea... Once when I was watching a TV programme on the king of Saudi Arabia, it said that he had in his house a single step escalator! A good question is why? Surely a ramp would be a lot easier!

Did you know there is only one Public Escalator on the Isle of Wight. It is the BHS Escalator in Newport, and on it's opening weekend in c.1996 thousands of locals rushed to Newport, went into BHS, went up the escalator, down the stairs, and out the back of the shop, only to go round to the front of the shop to join the queue for the Escalator again... BHS didn't sell anything, but became a tourist attraction for the locals.

Isn't the lack of public escalators on the Isle of Wight due to the fact the 92% of the population can fly? Or maybe that was just the local 'produce' that made it seem that way...
I, personally, am in the process of installing an escalator to help me with the climb into bed.

With an escalator Perhaps that's what they're going to convert all those closed C&A shops into. Would be a bit of a drastic career change for the staff, though - 'I'm sorry your enema was a little uncomfortable, Mr Prescott, but my job was putting the hangers in shirts'. (just to add a spot of political satire - I think I need a little practice, and as I'm genuinely feeling sorry for those people who have lost their jobs, I think I'll choose a different subject in the future).

Love is an escalator.
Because it is.
It takes you up, and then when you get to the second floor, you realise it was exactly the same as the floor you left behind, only with a bigger drop behind you.

Worse than life as a stairlift? If I were a stairlift I could think of worse people to be sat on than Thora Hird. At least she's small. And would make for good conversation, though I think if people saw her in those adverts talking to the furniture it might not have the desired effect on Stannah's sales. But it might prevent all those intelligent stairlifts from getting bored and going on strike, or revolting. That would really dent their sales as I know very few people who would want a ride on a revolting stairlift.

Happy Birthday to your mate but does that mean you're 22ish as well? If you are then I'm sure you must know the same people that I know

Anyway we already did the it's a small world thing before, but we almost determined that it wasn't too small...however, if his mate is 22 I'm now waiting to see if I have to reconsider
