My guess is that whatever has been removed is waiting for a verdict by an Italic (probably Peta). You get emails once the sentence has been passed. Sometimes sentence is passed by a Mod, sometimes it is escalated to Peta.
You can challenge the decsion, and sometimes the challenges are successful.
This space is missing because it contains an offsite link to a proposed guide entry on the social, legal and linguistic history of four letter and other short words. Every now and again a mod thinks 
and pulls the page. I refer the thing to Peta, and it is reinstated.
