Spoilers for christmas special and 2011 season

Well, these aren't spoilers exactly but some researchers don't like to know anything about future episodes so I thought a new thread was in order.

Sir Michael Gambon and Katherine Jenkins are to be guest stars in the christmas special. As is Steve North (never heard of him) who is to play a character called "Older Benjamin".

For the 2011 season, Mr Moffat will write five of the thirteen episodes and Neil Gaimon will be writing one (possibly episode three.)

I'm sure we'll get more spoilers as we get closer to christmas and then spring 2011 so post them when you hear them.

Van smiley - cheers

Series 6 is going to be split in two. It will start at Easter, stop at episode 7 and then resume ain autumn.

Apparently Moffat requested the season split himself. It seems he's got a massive cliffhanger set up for episode 7, and he wants to leave it hanging over the summer.

It also means that we won't have to suffer a DW drought for half the year!

It's the kind of thing that's be done with other series in the past, to reasonably good effect. I doubt the series will suffer from the gap.

I think it's a great idea. The most recent series seemed to go far too quickly and I agree that it's better not to have a drought. Also, DW seems to be better when it's dark outside in early evening (it gave Waters of Mars something extra for me) so an autumn run is right up my street smiley - ok

When is Easter in 2011? March or April?

Not sure whether the split is a good idea as it will likely be going up again X-Factor type programmes but if it gets the BBC away from moving the timeslot around like they did last year (and didn't they miss a week because of Eurovision) it can't be all bad ...

Not sure about Easter, but I do know that 26th March is a Saturday next year. It's the first time it's been a Saturday since the first episode of the next series, which aired on Saturday 26th March 2005. I remember that date clearly, though I couldn't watch the episode that day. I was at a wedding reception. It wasn't like a could cry off either - it was my wedding!

I'm pretty sure they didn't skip Eurovision night. We had a Eurovision thing at our house, and several of my friends came round a bit early so they could watch Doctor Who at ours.

It's probably because of the demand for new Sherlock.

Easter Saturday 2011 is 23rd April. Quite a late one next year, then.

... and 23 April is *my* wedding anniversary ...

26 March is my husband's birthday.

As far as DW goes, I'd much prefer one long run of 13 eps. But hey.

Apparently there will be a sneak peak at a bit of the Christmas special during CIN tonight. Oh, and a tea party in the TARDIS.
