/me hasn't read last few posts so this might have already been raised.
Me, twenty minutes ago:
'Break the ing window.'
Apart from that it was a frightfully good episode.

I think one disappointment about Dr Who this side of the millennium is that the writers/producers use "Think of a household object and then imagine what could happen if it goes wrong" to create many of their storylines. I'm not sure it always used to be like that ...

I thought the sonic screwdriver could shatter glass? Was with you all in breaking the window.
Quite a good episode. Can't wait for the next one. Glad Donna and Martha hit it off. Very funny 1st meeting!

I remember seeing a "Making of The Terminator" feature many years ago. There's a part in that where Arnie (The Terminator) jumps on the car bonnet and punches through the windscreen to try and grab Michael Biehn. Basically even Arnie wouldn't have been able to do it except they used sugar glass. Admittedly that was the front windscreen and I don't think side windows are quite the same thickness or strength but makes you think ...
All that said, am I the only person who still has a car that doesn't have electric windows, and has to use a winder to put the window up or down?

Am I the only one wondering if that boy genius has a dalek tied up in his basement? I didnĀ“t think it was a good episode though.

It definitely had a different feel to the last few episodes. They've set aside the creepy horror feel for something on a bigger scale. It reminded me of Star Trek in many ways, what with the military involvement and the type of race the Sontarans are.
UNIT are a bit rubbish as a military force, btu then I gather that they always were, to one extent or another.

I think the return of the Sontarans is a great plot idea. A mean baddy without a scrap of ethics and a single fatal vulnerability. I can't help wondering why the clever kid hasn't rigged a kevlar scarf for the poor things yet, but I suspect he is going to turn against them in pt II anyway.
Excellent makeup and costume, very true to the original, but I don't remember whether they had soft welsh accents last time around.

First of all will they please get rid of THAT bloody woman! She can't act, is boring and should stick to the one horse commedy she does badly!
The last 2 epidsodes were a lot better than that Pompei nonesense. They had more monsters and high tech type stuff, much more fun and like older Who programes. No need to pick out specifics, although the Ood are always good, just more interesting episodes for last last 2 programmes.
I am sorry but really, 'THAT' woman has as much variation in facial expressions as my cat, and my cat has only 3 legs!

Moonhogg - Captain Coffee Break Posted Apr 28, 2008
I agree with the Pompeii being a bit naff.
I appreciate you can do wonders with CGI, but it still does not look real. The quality of the prosthetics now is fantastic, and monsters with people in them look far more convincing than someone trying to act at a tennis ball on a stick against a green background.
As for "That woman"...
Am I Bovvered?

I gonna go against the flow a bit here - I thought that Tate was actually OK in this episode.
All right, I admit that's 'OK' rather than 'brilliant' - not enough to make up for 4 previous duff appearances, and she's certainly no Martha Jones. But on the strength of that single episode on its own, I would have no problem with her. She acted well, didn't lapse into 'bovvered' moments and was generally not too irritating.
Now can we please have Martha back?

I'm interested in this cat.
How does having only 3 legs affect it's ability to produce facial expressions?

"I think the return of the Sontarans is a great plot idea. A mean baddy without a scrap of ethics and a single fatal vulnerability"
I don't agree that the Sontarans have no ethics, I think you've confused ethics with compassion. The Sontarans seem to have a very strong code of warrior ethics: never be dishonoured, always finish a fight, never retreat. They're an interesting villain in a lof of ways and they're very different from the "big two" Who monsters - the cybermen and daleks - because those two races have a lot of emphasis placed on a lack of emotion whilst the Sontarans appear to be quite emotional creatures: "you dishonour me, sir!". Whilst the Daleks were based on nazis, the Sontarans seem to be a take on a sort of blimpish sub-fascist militarism: there's an emphasis more on pomposity and personal honour than on clinical coldness.
I like the "weakness" too because it actually made sense from the Sontaran point of view: a way to force them not to turn and retreat and to face the enemy in battle. Nice touch.
