Well, that rocked. Not quite as much specticl (look, I've been drinking) as lastyear, but it rocked. Loved the design of the Empress's ship. And didn't next season look *fantastic*?

Excellent stuff...Ms Tate did a good job too I thought.
Roll on the new series...and the next Xmas special I hope.

I enjoyed it but was a little disappointed: having fake Santa robots *again* is pushing it and the big red spider woman was just pantomime silliness.
Apart from that it was pretty good, and there was some cracking dialogue.
'I'm in my wedding dress.'
'Yes, you look lovely, now JUMP!'

Tate was a real surprise to me. Expected to hate her as I can't *stand* her show, but she didn't annoy me at all.

They were supposed to be the same robot Santas though, weren't they. Hence the thing about Christmas trees.
Good lines? 'Big spaceship over London?'. 'I had a bit of a hangover'.

Not sure about this, it was definatly better than last year, the constant yelling was a bit much. Is it me or did it have a kind of 'Soapy' feeling to it?, I was half expecting Pauline Fowler to turn up at the reception.
At least she never said Bovvered.

Didn't notice a soapy feel, but it did have a bit of an 'ordinary' feel to it. Obviously I've been spoiled over the past couple of years.

It was the wedding reception and squabbling on the dance floor that did it for me I think

I also don't like Tate and expected to hate her in it, but she didn't annoy me as much as I thought. Yes she did too much shouting, and I also wondered about them using the robot santas again, but overall I enjoyed it. DT's usual witty comments just made it for me, and I can't wait to see the next series - lots of great snippets in the teaser!
Merry Christmas everyone!

It was good family fun. The kids loved it. Was it soapy? I don't know what is meant by that - probably because I only see the ends of soaps when I change the channel, but I didn't have a problem with the wedding 'reception'.
I haven't watched anything by Catherine Tate, so I had no real expectations either way; she was fine - not the problem that many felt she would be. If anything was wrong with it, it is that it was too short.

We all loved it. And I have a photo of 4-year-old Osh hiding behind the sofa, so it had all the right elements.
Did anybody watch the Doctor Who concert on BBCi afterwards? It was fab too.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't really fault anything. It had a great alien, lots of good gags and a very assured performance from DT. They dealt with the loss of Rose well, without letting it bog things down, and even managed to lay some hints as to future directions (I thought, anyway). And a very generous S3 trailer to boot, although the colossal spoiler at the end was a slight shame (but fun).
Excellent stuff. It's what Christmas Day is all about.

I know what you mean about the spoiler, but I think it was probably so expected it hardly counts.
I do wish someone would sort out the sound levels though. I thought it was just our TV last series, but watching at Mum and Dad's it was just as bad.
Although not as terrible as Robin Hood which I've stopped watching purely because I can't hear the ruddy dialouge.

Don't worry, Kerr, I don't think you've missed anything by skipping Robin Hood. Our kids love it, but DH and I prefer a peaceful hour in a different room when it's on.

Well I can't claim to be that impressed with what I've seen, but I do dislike starting watching something witha plot arc then dropping out.

"the big red spider woman was just pantomime silliness"
why is it that so often, the main monsters just sort of sit there, and thrash about a lot?
