Hehehehehe!
Serves you right Ottox!
I maybe will do this every week just to foil you all!
Actually... I am waiting for the blob number, so you better check back in about 8 hours time... it will be well worth it!

You know, first time I saw this one (when it *finally* was up ), I wasn't logged in, so I had to see it in A**bad***r. I really hoped there would be a Goo version too, but no...
Nice buttons!

A well balanced view point Wowbagger - the goo-ites or goonies or whatever they're called seem happy. The indifferent (my good self included) are happy. If there are any true alabaster fans out there, well I don't know whether they're happy or not. Perhaps not. But you've made me long even more for that mythical third skin...

Wowbagger Posted Oct 19, 2001
Perhaps a competition is in order to create this mythical third skin...

Ottox Posted Oct 19, 2001
Of course you *could* try this third "skin", but h2g2 Life is better even in Alabaster...

Your link didn't exactly get me to an Alabaster version of the page, however I changed my preferences and had a look at it that way.
It certainly looks nice in a matching site colour scheme. I may do an 'Alabaster' toon every so often to keep people on their toes! LOL
I think a site-wide 'competition' to design a new skin would be fun! No guarrentees that the winner would get their style immortalised (I daresay the copyright, technical and creative expenses would be quite a lot and therefore foolhardy for the Beeb) but as just a bit of fun...

How would it be demonstrated? Just as a mockup?
Hey, that might work... Copy the source of an h2g2 page, then mess around with it to make it look different.
If I had any artistic skills, or an image program worth anything, I'd probably sign up. Heck, I'd probably sign up anyway.
Have we talked to the PTB about this idea yet?

PTB?
I haven't talked to anyone about this idea (apart from in this forum). It's just your basic random musing LOL.

Sounds cool, though. I've already taken the idea and ran with it. Do you think rollovers on all the buttons are technically feasible? I've made the images for them in my pseudo-skin, and was hoping to use them, since it's a really neat effect.

I haven't the faintest, I'm afraid Twinkle, what you're talking about but it sounds wonderful - I'd love to see it.

Ottox Posted Oct 23, 2001
There are rollovers for the buttons in both existing skins, aren't there? (Can't see them in this browser )
*waits for Twinkle to explain it to spimcoot*
