Please don't worry too much about using GuideML at the moment - it is better to write in plain text if you are not used to it, and get your text right first.

Another similar article to yours is this one about IRC A2966916. If you take a look at that you may see ways which your article could be expanded a little, giving some more info about the history of IM.
