Hoovooloo

I'd like to make a couple of things clear to anyone reading this.

Firstly and most importantly, the problem was emphatically NOT the subeditor. I was in contact with the subeditor and they did a fine job with which I thanked them for. The problem arose with the in-house Editor's additions, and I spotted them the day before the entry hit the front page.

Secondly, I did not take "exception to [a person] implying that they were equally knowledgable on the subject". If the Editor implied and demonstrated that they were more knowledgeable than me, I'd very happily bow to their superior knowledge. Why wouldn't I? It would only be improving the entry with my name on it.

I DID take exception to an example being added which was factually inaccurate, and to the later statement that the Editor didn't have time to check whether it was accurate or not. As I said at the time - if you've not got time to check whether it's accurate, you shouldn't be adding it.

Finally, I'd like to say that all was well that ended well, because the example which caused the problem, while it wasn't anything to do with Coriolis force, was a good demonstration of gyroscopic precession. It inspired the entry on Gyroscopes, which sailed through the editing process as smoothly as anything - thanks to all! smiley - cheers

H.
