I have no idea what time this would be for me in US central standard time. We are 6 hours behind GMT. And how long are you going to be down anyways?

*Central Standard Time*

Sounds like the time we should all be different time, rather than some Mean time or Pacific time. Bit namby-pamby, though. Sounds like an attempt to please everyone...smiley - tongueout

CST an attempt to please everyone? Well it makes me happy enough but I prefer Central Daylight time. What time will h2g2 be down in Martian time? -oops wrong thread. smiley - tongueout

Well it's *Central* which is almost *Centrist*. And it's *Standard*, which means it is middle of the road. It sounds like a very acommodating time, something we can all live with.

*Central Daylight*, now that is alarming. What, the sun never goes down? There's no *Central Nightime*? Very disturbing.

As to Martian time, won't that be determined by the corporation that runs Mars? smiley - smiley

Dark Side of the Goon

Martian time is based on the rotation of Mars and certain poetic concepts.

It's approximately 14 Neems to the right of GMT.

I see what you mean. Daylight time just refers to Daylight Savings Time. It's not that scary really. You have more daylight than we ever see in BC. Those places where the sun never sets in the Summer at all - now those places are scary. I want to visit one of then someday. Reykyavik (sp?) maybe.

On another subject; I noticed the admonition above my text box here that says "Please don't start new threads here, as we anticipate lots of subscriptions to this page." Does that mean we shouldn't be having conversations unrelated to the subject of the thread here?

*You have more daylight than we ever see in BC.*

Wait a minute.....I live in BC. We have lot's more daylight in the summer than you do....unless you live here too?

My sister lived in Fort St. John for many years, when I visited her in the summer I couldn't sleep because the sun was up for 19 hours a day (random randomness).

As to this thread and it's relevancy, how 'bout those Canucks? Gonna make the playoffs for sure!

(I don't think *they* are going to punish us for making this an active, fairly educated convo...)

Zoomer - there is a certain amount of evidence that the Neem is distantly related to the Haggis (and even more distantly to the Dust Puppy), so if you can hear snuffling sounds and you loose small items regularly you either have Children or a Neem.

I am not in BC, sorry that was unclear. I meant you in BC have more daylight than we do in Minnesota. How did I know you were in BC? I just do.

Is a "dust puppy" like a "dust bunny"?

It's a fair trade, we have more daylight and you have more cheese. Wait a minute....

Apparently you can get proffessionals to deal with them, Zoomer. It's expensive but your furniture ends up lasting longer and your house equity will be preserved.

The site is loading really wierd. Does that mean it is about to go off? This is making me nervous. (...Is it down now?... Is it down now?...) Perhaps I should just log off but I wish I knew when you'd be coming back up so I don't try to come back and just get frustrated.

Well, that's all done now. The servers will be a little slow for a while, because we're clearing out some cache directories, and that's taking a lot longer than we expected - so I decided to open op the servers anyway, since it's not usually that busy at this time of the morning.

Thanks for your patience.

Gnomon - time to move on

I still have minus 5 new postings on the British English Sequel thread. I thought that was supposed to be fixed in the upgrade.
