Yes, we wholeheartedly agree with this, nbb. smiley - bubbly Although there are exceptions: A530687

This is looking in good shape. Would anyone like to suggest some links? Not to be accused of product placement, would a link to this Entry be apposite?:
Baileys

Also there is already an Entry on How to Make Coffee Cream Liqueur A1103770 in the Guide, can we be sure that this is sufficiently different enough to justify a separate Entry? Happy to go with the consensus on this. Is this a different thing? More of a quick White Russian recipe? Forgive our slight cocktail-related ignorance...

Kahlua is brown and sticky and sweet - rather like the insides of coffee liqueur chocolates. Made in Cuba I think?

Baileys is creamy and made with whisky.

Just thought that might help? smiley - pggb

Coffee Cream Liqueur and Coffee Liqueur are different things, so I'd be happy for them to each have their own Entry, perhaps with a link to each other.

Possibly it's a bit like the difference between beer and lager - only those who drink them really know the difference!

I think I can clear up some of that question.smiley - ok

Kahlua is a brand name of a coffee liqueur made in Mexico. There are undoubtedly other coffee liqueurs, but none have any cream of which I'm aware. Certainly Kahlua does not, and you can't make a Black Russian or White Russian with Baileys.

There are also many Irish Cream blends out there. Baileys is one, and does have whiskey and 'spirits'. Some others use wine for their 'spirits', but they all have cream.

Yes, they are two quite distinctly different offerings; each tasty in its own way, of course.smiley - biggrin

Coffee Flavoured --> Coffee-Flavoured (in title and many other places)

each are reported --> each is reported

specialized --> specialised

that calls for Kahlua; the Black Russian -- change semicolon to colon

home made coffee liqueurs --> homemade coffee liqueurs

"Another problem these recipes encounter is the attempt to use instant coffee combined with simple syrup (pretty much equal parts of water and sugar), which is just amazingly wrong." -- this is worded wrong. You say the recipes encounter the attempt to use instant coffee, which doesn't make much sense.

1 1/4 C -- I wasn't sure what this meant, but eventually figured out that it refers to "cups". I think it would be better to spell the cups out, and use a code to make that quarter more readable:

1¼ cups

When giving metric equivalents, you should round to a convenient number, unless it is absolutely critical. So you should say 350ml rather than 353ml. Similarly, 177.4ml should be 180ml

3/4 C should be ¾ cups

flavorings --> flavourings

dark molasses --> dark treacle (molasses)

Add vanilla and molasses --> Add vanilla and treacle

web available recipes --> web-available recipes, but it is a cumbersome phrase and would be better as "recipes on the web"

Footnote two has a rogue square bracket at the end which should be removed.

THe comment in footnote 2 about Kahlua containing 20-35% does not seem to relate to anything and is not explained.

One other thing - in Edited Entries you should use character codes for the accented characters, as the character you've typed does not display correctly on some browsers.

Use ú instead of Ăș.

So KahlĂșa should be Kahlúa

We're now feeling suitably informed on the cream/non-cream front, so thanks for that Fords. We're also feeling really thirsty too, mind.

Just let us know when you've made the corrections, and you're happy, and if everyone else is happy we'll accept away. smiley - ok

Thanks again, Gnomon, for your sharp editorial eye!smiley - ok

I think I got them all, and explained that the 20%-35% referred to 'alcohol by volume'. I also put the alternate 'molasses' in a footnote rather than parentheses.

Gee for such a short entry, I expected better of myself!smiley - doh

Let me know if you think it's ready, at your convenience.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
