Thanks for adding the extra footnotes, Frogbit - 'rhines' and 'mumps' are exactly the kind of words that a simple search won't identify in this context, because of their more common meanings.
Another thing that occurred to me when I read it again - I think it would be worth identifying the order of monks at the abbey. The earlier monks seem to have predated any modern orders, but from the Middle Ages they seem to have definitely been Benedictines - an order well-known to all readers of Ellis Peters' Brother Cadfael books.

Azara - they were Benedictines. Good point. I've added that in. Ever tried Benedictine? It's brewed by Benedictine monks (or distilled perhaps), and is a powerful spirit. Mix it 50/50 with a good brandy and you'll have a drink you'll never forget. (For good reasons).

Cheers MC. Hopre RL was pleasurable. Good news about the frog numbers. There is an organisation somewhaere that looks after excessive frog numbers. . .give me and minute and I'll track them down. I think it's the pondlife project or something. I'll get back to you. And thanks for your kind comments.

The link to the Mendips entry will probably be removed during subbing unless you change it to the new recommended entry number, A622405.
You probably also don't need the extra title at the top.

That's strange, according to my computer, this thread is still in PR
Oh well, I s'pose I'd better post this anyway, right, this entry has now gone into the editing process for future inclusion in the edited guide, so one day your entry will be on the front page, but please remember that the subbing might take a couple of millennia
