Lessons (valid in France / Les Trois Vallees)
Take lessons at the Ecole de ski. They have classes for every level. You can take morning or afternoon classes, so you can spend the other half of the day not skiing or skiing with your friends.
All teachers speak french, some speak fluent english, but some only speak basic ski-terminology.
It is better (and probably quicker) to ski downhill and take a skilift to above where you want to go, then to try to climb uphill with your ski's and skiboots.
