H2G2 - Skiing - Tips & Tricks

When you go by car be sure to bring your snowchains. Practice to put them around your wheel with your gloves on and in the dark. Practising in a snowstorm isn't a good idea. Put your snowchains, gloves and flashlight on top of your luggage.

Lessons (valid in France / Les Trois Vallees)
Take lessons at the Ecole de ski. They have classes for every level. You can take morning or afternoon classes, so you can spend the other half of the day not skiing or skiing with your friends.
All teachers speak french, some speak fluent english, but some only speak basic ski-terminology.

It is better (and probably quicker) to ski downhill and take a skilift to above where you want to go, then to try to climb uphill with your ski's and skiboots.

Taxi (valid in France / Les Trois Vallees)
You can ski from one valley to the other, but it is quite a distance, you need a skipass for more then one valley and you also have to get back by skilifts that close around 5:00pm or by taxi. The taxi has to go around the mountaintops, through the valleys and it takes a lot of time and money. And the taxi driver only speaks french….
