A friend of mine asked for some help so I came up with

now the problem was how does my friend edit this, they are not a code smiley - spacesmiley - geeksmiley - space and as such needed a wysiwyg editor that is CSS aware and that is free or low cost... not a chance thought me then I found "Nvu" http://nvu.com/index.html

It looks like it should do the job, anybody got any thoughts on thissmiley - huh

You can't beat the price, and I think Nvu does a good job. It's really the "Composer" piece of Mozilla that has temporarily(?) branched off, and Composer has always been a decent yet somewhat buggy tool. Nvu seems to be fixing a lot of the bugs.

At my office we are recommending Macromedia Contribute. It really is as easy as web page editing gets, and it understands and respects css. If you use Dreamweaver too, you can create Dreamweaver templates that Contribute will use, so you can lock Contribute users out of certain parts of the page so they don't mess things up. Contribute also has different 'roles' so you can allow some people to work on some parts of a site while others can do more (or less). That all might be more than your friend needs, but even without that Contribute is an excellent choice for an easy, inexpensive editor that is probably more stable than Nvu. There is a free 30 day demo if you want to give it a try, it won't rewrite any of your code so it's safe.

It's not me, it's for a friend & the Zero cost of Nvu is an important factor (I'm strictly a code guy and as such far happier with a decent text editor such as vimsmiley - spacesmiley - geek)

That said I just had a play with Nvu to put together a very, very quick example of how to use background images to get rounded corners for my friend.

The first is Nvu with inline style smiley - sadface
The other is Nvu plus HTML Tidy smiley - smiley

If ya look at the source you will see that Tidy has done a great job sorting out the messy Nvu code (although still not as neat as hand crafted code).
